What is the timeline of REACH?

The second reading of the REACH proposal is expected by end of 2006, the commencement is expected to be in spring-summer 2008. The European chemicals agency will start in 2008, beginning with the first phase of registrations (substances >1000 t/year and some substances with high risk for health or environment like cancerogenic , mutagenic or toxic materials). Up to 2013 the second phase of registrations is planned to be finished applying to substances >100 t/year, and in the following years up to 2018 the registration phase for chemicals above 1 t/year is expected to be finished.
